I was looking for the Glee version of Pure Imagination on Google (I love this song so, so much ♥ All covers/versions of it!), and the third link that comes up from the search is a J2 AU fic that appears to have nothing to do with either Glee or the song. Maybe it's a sign that I've been reading too much J2 fic lately and even Google is picking up on it (but the link wasn't to LJ, where I read most of my fic!) -- ahhhh, sentient-and-mind-reading Google!

I've been failing so much at writing up papers lately, I can't even-- /o\ It's hard enough to write up projects that you came up with yourself; writing up projects with fast-and-loose theory that you didn't come up with is even more difficult. The problem with procrastinating is that I end up doing so much useless shit (like, not even fandom!productive -- I can't remember the last time I even attempted to draw fanart :x) and absolutely nothing gets done. *tears hair out*

When I grow up (aka finish my degree and get a ~*real*~ job, i.e. be a professor), I want to be just like them. :D Being a grown up doesn't necessarily have to translate into being more concerned with ~*real life*~ -- it just means that I can combine my research interests with my fannish interests and have increased funding (i.e. a ~*real*~ salary) to pursue my fannish interests. :>

Also: people are all, like, yay, summer break is starting, and I'm all, oh noes, half of my summer break is over (and I totally don't have half of my project done D:)!

The problem with attempting to be social is that it doesn't leave a lot time for the important things in life: like reading every post on my flist in detail and reading fic and re-recording the podfic that Audacity had the audacity to mangle. Pretending to be a normal person is so very tiring!

In fandom news, the weddings have lost their novelty, but this particular picture tugs at my heartstrings just a teeny bit and I can sort of see where the tinhatters are coming from. ;) (Oh, tinhatters. Just remember: the Jared and Jensen that you proclaim to love? Are probably nothing at all like their real-life counterparts. Also, somewhat unrelated, I am still squicked by the "Omg, they need to pop out a billion pretty babies, like, nao" comments. Marriage ≠ baby-producing -- and hey, maybe D&G want to advance their careers before getting chained down, hmm?)

I went picnicking with a friend (A.) on Friday and this little boy joined us in playing Frisbee and he scraped his leg a bit while clambering up a wall to fetch the Frisbee despite our help, so A. asked him, concerned, "Do you still like us?"

And the little boy, who couldn't have been more than eight or nine, looks at A. and says, "Only as a friend, right?"

I had no idea children at that age could differentiate between "liking as a friend" vs. "liking as in liking". XD
And of course, because I am an awesome friend, I had to rib A. about being rejected by an eight-year-old, all the way back to the parking lot.

--

Because I am in epic procrastination mode, I kind of want to flesh this out into a fic (and Jensen would totally have a violin hickey).
I'm certain this insanity will pass.

I woke up this morning under a pile of fluffy blankets on my big, soft bed at home. I leisurely checked my email while still in bed (and thanked heavens that my school email inbox wasn't bombarded with emails from my supervisor -- probably because she's teaching all day. Speaking of which, the worst way to be woken up is by a phone call from my supervisor telling me to make changes to questionnaires within the next hour). Then I spent an hour knitting* and listening to Sherlock Holmes porn in my warm sunny kitchen. Now that is an excellent way to start off the week.

But then I had to go back to campus right after lunch. I've dawdled online long enough -- I should consider catching up on readings and preparing for the study I need to run tomorrow. *le sigh*

*- on the subject of knitting: I was inspired by [livejournal.com profile] kelene's endeavor to learn knitting and decided to pester my mother into teaching me (for the umpteenth time) this weekend. I think I'm getting the hang of it! I am knitting myself a bright red scarf. :D It's quite relaxing to knit and listen to podfic (that is, right up until the point that my fingers cramp up).

In other news, I had to drop out of [livejournal.com profile] j2_everafter because I have absolutely no art juices in me at all. I had several ideas for my entry back in December and I regret not putting them to paper right away. All I have is this little chibi sketch I drew back in, I dunno, December -- I cleaned it up a bit in Photoshop:

Had my last exam today! I probably should have attempted to study, but my concentration has been shot since the beginning of December. I just could not study. I don't want to talk about how much fic I read and how much TV I watched and how many mini panic attacks I had. Just one more paper to finish up and a bit of work for my project to do. (the work? it never ends. >__<) I'd been looking forward to Christmas break since August, for serious.

Also? Five hour essay exams are kind of brutal. Comps are going to kill me dead.

I met up with [livejournal.com profile] lilie_charlotte after my exam. We watched random episodes of SPN and made inappropriate comments, as always (I'm very glad my suitemates weren't home since our conversation --and mad cackling-- was kind of loud). Somehow, we ended up searching for the transcript and playing Mad Libs (because we felt that certain conversations made more sense if certain words were changed -- also, we wanted to re-live our youth, playing the games of the non-Internet days). I told her I'd post it, so here goes our attempt at a collaborative ~*fanfic*~:

Yeah, that's right, two grad students spent Friday night playing dirty!Mad Libs. This is where I say MLIA, right? To be honest though, spending the evening cracking jokes with a friend who gets you is much more fun than going to a party or what ever it is "normal" students do. ;) S went to a party a couple weeks ago; she's a nerd, through and through, and it was the first time she'd been to a party that involved alcohol and drugs and the like. She called me a few days after the party and following exchanged ensued:

S: It was so weird! I felt like I was an observer and doing an anthropological study or something!
Me: Heh, like Jane Goodall and the apes?

I blew out the power in the my room because I was so desperate that I was trying to run two space heaters simultaneously. Bad idea. >__O I got the power back on, but only one space heater going and I can feel the cold seeping through the walls, the floor, even the power outlets. And did I mention my two big windows? lsfjsladjf;l When I had to venture outside to go to class, I wore a tank top, a light knit sweater, a knit cardigan, a sweatshirt, and then my winter coat over all that. I also wore leggings under my jeans. AND I WAS STILL COLD. I am not made for this weather. D:!!
