1. My new year's resolution is to be less of an antisocial hermit (I kick-started this resolution by actually going to a new year's eve party rather than rolling myself up in a blanket burrito and reading fic. 10 points to me~) My other resolution is to be less of a failbot, but I'm not doing so well on that one. \o\

1.5 I've noticed that the traffic on LJ has been declining drastically over the past few months (probably due to a combination of the increasing popularity of Twitter/Tumblr/etc and LJ's own fuck-ups). Part of my resolution is to be more social online as well as offline, so tell me how I can interact and socialize with you! Yes, YOU, right there, reading this entry. I am always up for chatting about fannish things and capslocking about random things and, idk, discussions about human behaviour and whatnot.

I'm unalignable on Twitter, fishpatrol at DW (I haven't updated this account since last year \o\ if you post exclusively on DW, let me know! I haven't checked my...reading circle? --is that what they're called?-- in ages); I'm considering opening a Tumblr account, but it is like VORTEX OF UNENDING IMAGES -- you fall in and by the time you climb back out, five hours have already gone by. /o\

2. 2012 has been kind of a shit-show. 2013 hasn't been significantly better, but hey, it's only been two days. (more about this in a locked entry, later -- this is a it's-a-new-year-let's-be-optimistic post)

3. So, about a month ago, I accidentally fell into the hockey RPF fandom, oops. I thought it was just a ~passing ~phase, but I've now recorded a one-hour long podfic and I kind of want to record more, so, uh, IDEK. Poor applegeuse has had to endure my incessant vomming of hockey feels. Mostly, I say stuff like I am totally ~doing ~sports ~wrong, because I care very little about the actual skill of the players, or how good a team is -- I ONLY CARE ABOUT HOW AMUSING THE PLAYERS ARE AS ~PEOPLE (I love watching behind the scenes videos, etc akdslfjdsj). It just so happens that the better players get more interviews/behind the scenes/etc, so I end up liking the ones that play well because of COINCIDENCE. \o\ /o/ \o\ I'll bet I could totally get roped into American football RPF and/or European football (soccer :P) RPF as well, if they had a ton of fics and a ton of lolarious videos sdklafjlad;j THERE IS JUST SOMETHING DELICIOUS ABOUT A BUNCH OF DUDES WHO ARE RIDIC DEDICATED TO A RIDIC GAME AND, LIKE, ~FEEL INTENSE ABOUT THE GAME AND TO EACH OTHER AND ARE PROBABLY ALL FAILBOTS OUTSIDE OF THEIR RIDIC GAME. THEY ARE ALWAYS TOGETHER (LIVING TOGETHER, BEING ON THE ROAD TOGETHER, PLAYING TOGETHER) AND BOND OVER THEIR INTENSE FEELS ABOUT THEIR RIDIC GAME. IT IS LIKE BOARDING SCHOOL STORIES (which I have always enjoyed in real!books and fic :>) BUT MORE ~INTENSE. (I usually blame lemniciate for getting me into random fandoms, but this time, it's totally scintilla10's fault. Well, okay, no, not really. It's mostly because I am weaksauce and just need one picture/fic/podfic to pique my interest. X3;; She mentioned the fandom in passing, I lol'ed at her, and the next thing I knew, I was guzzling down the fics on AO3/listened to all of the podfic at least twice/trawled tumblr looking at images and gifs. *MASSIVE FACEPALM* HOW DID I GO FROM THIS TO THIS? creying and slobbing forever /o\)

3.5 ANYWAY. I doodled applegeuse a little J2 (feat. the alliterative cats) for being a ~good ~sport (hur hur) about the whole thing.



4. On the one hand, there is no such thing as "too much cake". On the other hand, YES, YES THERE IS. TOO MUCH SUGAR, BLERGH BLERGH.

The neighbours were having a noisy party (idek which neighbours -- left? right? upstairs? bah, apartments), so I popped my earbuds in and sketched. Yes, I listened to Kpop (and some English pop and some podfic) and sketched on a Friday night. What can I say -- I lead an exciting life.

I started watching New Girl, and idk, I'm not sure if I like it that much? But it's 21 minutes, which is perfect for my meandering attention span. Also, Schmidt is amusing and Cece is fab, so.

I spent all morning reading Yuletide fics and nomming on bits of turkey. Now my choice is to either take a nap or to make like Rodney McKay and rip someone's article to shreds (metaphorically). I've been avoiding posting on LJ for the past while because actively refraining from posting makes me feel less like a procrastinator...or something. I refresh my LJ flist and my Twitter feed every ten minutes, though, so. X3;;;

This is the first Christmas in the past three years that we didn't go down south somewhere, but that's probably a good thing because I had 150 exams to grade (I'm...60% done? or 70%, maybe? NO MORE TA-ing NEXT SEMESTER), 1 paper to write (umm...I'll get to this soon? Or beg for an extension ;;;), 1 paper to review (most professors find reviewing to be a burden, but as a lowly student, it is an ~honour. However, it means that I need to actually work on it), and lots of studies to work on (I don't even know anymore... /o\). I think school is making me lose weight again. \o\ I should do what my younger cousin did and go marry a fisherman so that I can play with dogs and lobsters and go boating instead of write papers.

I watched In Bruges with my parents last night. Nothing made sense in that movie! \o\ It just made me want to say the f-word a lot, afterwards. Tonight, we're going to watch something more brainless and action-y -- Red. Either that or Midnight in Paris, but shit blowing up sounds more fun.

I'm going to NYC for a few days with lilie_charlotte next week -- we have no idea what the heck we're going to do while we're there. We'll probably plan tomorrow night. Or at the airport the next day. :>;;; (such a contrast from our UK trip, where we would message back-and-forth on Facebook, with links to hotels/tours/passes, for 4-5 hours per day, weeks before our trip -- well, planning was a heck a lot more fun than studying for comps. XD)

In a week (+ a bit), I'm going to turn old. :( I keep forgetting this fact. I WANT TO STAY YOUNG FOREVERRRR \o\ At what point would one be considered to be in one's "mid-twenties"? Concerned minds wish to know.

I really, really like bunk beds (of all forms! \o/). There's just something wonderfully cozy about them. ♥ I try to keep the bunk-bed-squeeing to a minimum IRL, though, because apparently it's weird for a 20-something to like bunk beds :(((

I figure the best way to get used to using the tablet (Neal :D) to draw is to trace a couple of sketches first. I pulled out two really old (and really messy) sketches and did a clean outline with the tablet.

1. My parents are doing renovations on the upper floor of our house and my room looks like it's been hit by a tornado. Of course they decide to finally get on with the renovations right before I move back home. >__o

2. I just finished watching Slumdog Millionaire with my parents. This is the first movie I've watched in a long time (I'm not counting Antique Bakery, the Korean movie version, because I'd only watched half and then lost interest. How did my attention span become so short??). Slumdog Millionaire was pretty good -- the cinematography was great and I loved the colours. But I wasn't at all drawn in by the love story plotline, possibly because I found Latika a weak character from beginning to end (and Jamal totally wasn't as interesting of a character as his brother was).

Guess who finally caught up to the latest episode of SPN! \o/ And it only took me three months ;;; -- compared to, say, postingwhore who can zip through one-and-a-half seasons of a show in two days, heh. ;) I can't wait until the next episode, eee~ *wiggles in anticipation*

(2) We're going to Florida for a week in mid-August...! A club/apartment/place with wireless♥. The thing I'm looking forward to the most is sitting on the balcony looking over the beach, listening to the ocean waves, soaking in the sea breeze, and basking in the loving glow of my computer screen. Now that is my idea of a vacation. XD

My computer addiction aside, anyone going to be in the area around that time? I think we're an hour or so away from Orlando; my mom's just like, you can go meet your internet friends if you want, and I'm like, LOL okay. Anything exciting to do in Orlando or Jacksonville? We'll be landing at the airport in Jacksonville and spending about a day there.

(3.5) I'm not one for sleepovers, but I would totally go to this pyjama party! Teukie's messy hair! Eunhyuk's bunny tail! ...Shindong.......I think I preferred the 'fro. ;;;; My favourite Shindong hair would have to be his Don't Don style (I liked Teukie's Don't Don hair the most as well).

(4) The great thing about finding a new fandom is that you have a whole slew of good!fic just waiting for you to discover (and these people do podfic too which means being able to listen to fic on my commute which is all sorts of awesome and I have successfully managed to contain my facial expression, though I end up biting my lip a lot, and contain fangirlish squees and it's still a little awkward listening to NC17 fics on the bus but whatever :D;;;). The bad thing is that OMG SO MUCH WORK I HAVEN'T EVEN TOUCHED AKLDJAS;FDS;SOSCREWED. I wish all this work would go away so that I can happily waste my time marathoning SGA non-stop without feeling guilty. D:

(5) To end this post in a more upbeat note...Henry's ^__^ face makes me ^__^ in response. Also, he fails in every language he tries to speak on-screen, lol♥.

I've been watching random episodes of The Big Bang Theory on TV and then I decided to stream it online from the very beginning. It is filled with geeky humour and is vastly entertaining. I adore Sheldon, with his 187 IQ, his I-know-I'm-smarter-than-you attitude, and his complete ineptitude in understanding sarcasm and emotions in general, hee.

I'm watching English TV shows! Isn't that strange? Haha~ I've also been watching random episodes of Stargate Atlantis -- I haven't had the motivation to start from the very beginning...five seasons is four seasons too many. XD; Speaking of sci-fi shows (with main protagonists who are easy on the eyes ;)), I should catch up on Torchwood one of these days. The whole Tosh/Owen/Gwen love triangle turned me off three-quarters through the first season. Tosh was so much more interesting before she got all, "Owen ♥___♥" (whom I prefer with Gwen anyway). Ugh, one of these days, I want to find a show that doesn't have any romance -- just good plot and good characters (who are filled with with platonic love for each other) plz!

Last night, I found the original drawing in a tattered folder, and I thought that it might be a good opportunity to get accustomed to sketching and inking again (and lure my art muse back so I can draw that darned 4 Seasons fanart that I've been wanting to do for months).
