I figure the best way to get used to using the tablet (Neal :D) to draw is to trace a couple of sketches first. I pulled out two really old (and really messy) sketches and did a clean outline with the tablet.








Learning how to colour is going to be a nightmare. \o\

There was one J2 AU that had switching POVs, but while the writing was solid, the story was kind of meh (and I have a feeling you not like how a certain character was portrayed) -- but we'll have to save this conversation for when we meet up. ;) You're right -- we do have SGA to work with now! :D Do you have anything in mind yet?

I just asked for permission to do a Lorne/McKay piece http://community.livejournal.com/slashing_lorne/192783.html - though I think I love it more for the humour and gen aspects, but that's a solo project. I've been listening more than I've been reading so far ^^*

(Also, thanks for Complementary Colors and yin_again! The lyricism of her pieces so, so beautiful that they make me want to stop and bask, even after I'm done. Your inspired-by artwork was really lovely! Well done with the wings.)

Well, if we can't find a suitable SGA fic (which shouldn't be likely since there are so many fics to choose from!), we can always look for a White Collar or Leverage fic to record. :D

For a second I was like, I don't think I'd ever linked you to any of yin_again's recordings/fics (since she does a lot of McShep AUs and I'm not sure if you're into them?) And then I remembered that watercolour painting (oh god, I hate working with watercolours XD;;;;; but thank you so much for the lovely comment! I have such a ~thing~ for wings, have you noticed? XD)

how has the transition been? i've been looking at buying a tablet just for digital sketches but i'm kind of at a loss of where to start :x

I've only played around with it for about two days, so I can't really speak for the full transition yet. ;) It's...tricky? I don't have the best hand-eye coordination, so the looking-at-the-screen-while-sketching thing is kind of throwing me for a loop. The surface is also quite different, but you can lay a thin piece of paper on top of the tablet. Having an undo function while sketching is really kind of awesome. :> What model are you considering? I bought a small and cheap one to play around with, since I'm way too much of a novice to consider the high-end Wacom tablets.

haven't considered any models in particular. someone suggested to look at the wacom brand and decide on the size that would work for me. a tablet would be useful in some of my designs and i'd like to get more illustration oriented but not sure if i need a pro tablet or anything.

It seems the general consensus on the internet is that Wacom makes the best tablets. :> Mine is part of their low-end line, Wacom Bamboo. I think Graphire is next, followed by Intuos (there's another one after Intuos, but it's ridiculously expensive and I can't remember the name). I guess it depends on what size you like to work with and how much pressure sensitivity you require.

Aren't tablets freaking awesome?! While I love traditional art, it's kind of nice to use a tablet when you don't want to whip out all your supplies. And it's not messy!

I'm finding it fun to just mess around on the tablet while I watch TV or answer phone calls. ;D And the undo function ♥! *__* I'm still finding it kind of tricky to control at times -- but I suppose I'll get used to it after a while? I don't suppose you have any tips for a tablet!n00b. :>
