Attention, everyone~
Jul. 16th, 2010 12:44 pmI was thinking of digging around for a meme that will let me ask intrusive questions without seeming like a nosy creeper (:D), and I came across this one that
lemniciate (not that I'm calling
lemniciate a nosy creeper or anything...! She just has good taste in memes...? :D;;) just posted:
I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes office supplies." I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this.
Tell me about the SPN/J2 BB that you read recently (whether you loved it or hated it)! Or ramble about your research interests (sorry, I just got back from a seminar this morning and it's kind of on the top of my mind ;;;)! Or just tell me something completely random! Especially you lovely new people and sort-of-new people and not-so-new-people-that-I-haven't-talked-to-recently! \o/
And now, if you'll all excuse me, I'm going to go find something to eat and watch some SGA. :>

Date: 2010-07-16 07:18 pm (UTC)Those two episodes are from Season 1, right? Are you starting from the beginning now? Oh, that reminds me, there's a good chance you've read this fic already, but here's the link anyway: http://synecdochic.dreamwidth.org/122553.html -- gen, Elizabeth POV, very interesting take on the pilot episode (this is how I wish Elizabeth was written on the show :x).

Date: 2010-07-16 08:12 pm (UTC)Uh, I'm almost done with season one? From the beginning. Part two of the finale is the only ground that I have left to cover.
That fic is awesome, even only three or four scenes in, though I almost want to stop reading because I love Weir a lot in the canon. I don't think I've ever wanted to be like a fictional character before? Despite the occasional moments of... I'm not sure what the word is. But it feels off. Vacuous, almost? I don't know if it's bad writing or blank acting. Basically, I don't want to ruin this character that I'm basically starting to look up to, even though I'm already cherry-picking the best bits only.

Date: 2010-07-17 01:31 am (UTC)My problem with Elizabeth is that I really want to like her, but sometimes she's kind of flat as a character. I can understand why you wouldn't want to read the fic if you already like the Elizabeth on the show though -- to me, the fic is what Elizabeth had potential to be, but due to poor planning and poor writing (they could have done so much with Elizabeth as a Replicator, but instead, they wrote her off completely), she failed to achieve that potential. :(
