Reading Week needs to be Reading freakin' Month. I've been lounging around at home for the past four days and sleeping ten hours a night and it's been awesome. I spent all afternoon yesterday reading Merlin!fic -- Drastically Redefining Protocol and The Crown of the Summer Court, to be precise. I highly recommend both of them -- neither of them really require any knowledge of canon to be read and enjoyed.
Anyway, that got me into the mood to draw a bit of Merlin!fanart, and one of my favourite things to draw is shiny hair, so:

Arthur and Merlin are adorable, of course (I re-watched the unicorn episode over lunch -- the plot is laughable, but ugh, the boys are just so, so cute), but Morgana is just more fun to draw (because she has gorgeous hair and gorgeous dresses and she's just gorgeous all in all -- and I also like her accent, but that is neither here nor there).
While drawing, I was listening to a random J2 audiofic (I blame
trolleys for my curiousity..! I've never been into RPF [Suju ttly doesn't count, obvs], so...idk) and now I'm in the mood to watch a bit more of Supernatural. I've armed myself with a huge teddy bear so that I can bury my face in it when things get scary. *is prepared and ready to go*

Re: Yay, I have the approval of Junsu ;D
Date: 2009-02-18 10:36 pm (UTC)That would be So Close To My Heart! :D You pretty much started out with one of the best, and
South China Sea (http://community.livejournal.com/audio_by_juice/5937.html) is possibly my favorite J2 fic. Also read by juice.
AND. OH MY GOD. DID YOU KNOW THERE IS A J2 X BIG BANG THEORY CROSSOVER AND IT'S ONE OF THE GREATEST THINGS EVER. Podfic link (http://community.livejournal.com/audio_by_juice/7513.html). I recommend anything written by Chash. [tag link (http://community.livejournal.com/audio_by_juice/tag/author:chash)]
Hee, Dean is pretty damn cool and SPN is a GOLDMINE of incredible fic. Tread carefully, otherwise it will ruthlessly suck you in >_>

Date: 2009-02-19 01:17 am (UTC)I guess the appeal with Merlin AUs is that you can take the characters that everyone knows and loves and plop them in a universe that's more engaging than the somewhat-flat canon universe.
I love Juice's voice! I heard her reading in an SGA fic once, but was disappointed to find that it was the only SGA fic that she'd done a reading for. But, yay, more fic to listen to! Also, I totally did a :D face when I saw the words "BIG BANG THEORY CROSSOVER". Eee, I cannot wait to listen. Thank you for all the links! <3!!
I must admit that, outside of bandom (and I use this term to encompass fandoms dedicated to all bands), the allure of RPF is somewhat baffling to me -- but hey, pretty boys and no need of knowledge of canon -- works for me. :Db

Date: 2009-02-19 03:10 am (UTC)Juice is my favorite reader; I appreciate how she speaks Jared and Jensen in slightly different voices. I can almost guarantee you'll love TBBT!J2. :D

Hey, you just hit the nail on the head. WELCOME TO THE DARK SIDE.

Date: 2009-02-19 03:41 am (UTC)Haha, is that how you got sucked into J2 and subsequently, SPN? I've always wondered about how judging IC-ness and OOC-ness with RPF worked -- and y'know, being consistent in characterization -- but I guess having more flexibility with characterization is part of the appeal?
