After I watched the first episode of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood a month ago, this image wouldn't leave my head.
Dead mother, absent father, and Dean would totally give up a limb or two for Sam's soul -- hello, parallels! Ed!Dean and Al!Sam would go on an epic journey to find the Philosopher's Stone that would solve all problems and incidentally defeat the evil one-eyed demon, Pride (oho, another parallel!). Dean would be all protective and shit and Sam would use his superior height (and armour) to loom over and intimidate people. And crazy-revenge-seeking!Gordon = crazy-revenge-seeking!Scar.

Okay, so it's like this:
Dean (Major) follows his dad's footsteps and joins the army, while Sam (PhD, PhD) runs off to Stanford to study astrophysics. Their work brings them together in Antarctica and the first thing Sam says to Dean is, "Think about where we are in the solar system," and Dean obeys immediately because the voice is so familiar, like home. And then they're off to the lost city of Atlantis and the perilous Pegasus Galaxy where a race of space demons threaten humanity. They are joined by Ruby, the renegade space demon who runs from the space demon queen Lilith, and who is an ace with a laser-blasting knife. They are also joined by Castiel, who is a part of a race of angels, and who speaks in an oddly formal tone and refers to the other angels as "my people". He's great with hand-to-hand fighting, and one time during sparring practise, he grabbed Dean's shoulder so hard that he left a permanent mark (Sam doesn't like that very much). And the four of them travel across the galaxy, fighting space demons (and other petty crime) in Dean's favourite puddlejumper. Uh, okay, I'm done.

Original line art (and in case it's hard to tell, Dean is holding a P-90 and Sam is holding a tablet ;;;;)

Date: 2010-07-22 02:32 am (UTC)That was one of the first things Rodney said to John in the pilot episode, when John sat down in the control chair. And then an image of the galaxy appeared above them. :>
