Life: I don't have one
Feb. 8th, 2009 12:52 amI have a midterm on Monday, an assignment due on Tuesday, and a paper due on Wednesday. Of course I decided it would be a great idea to start watching new TV shows. *facepalms*
Supernatural. I can see the appeal of this whole Sam/Dean thing (very easy on the eyes, the both of them), but the horror aspect of the show is making me hesitate (I find that I spend at least 15% of each episode with my hands over my eyes XD;;). I like the premise of it (angels and demons and whatnot), but freaky things freak me out! Same reason why I couldn't get into the whole Buffy craze ten years ago. *is massive chicken* Also! What's with this whole people-burning-on-ceilings thing??
Heroes. I caught a random episode on TV today (a rerun of last Monday's episode, according to Wikipedia) -- it looks like a pretty fun series! Maybe I'll marathon it during Reading Week. *anticipates*
Gossip Girl. Also caught a random episode today. I've always found this show rather trashy and uninteresting, but I somehow watched a full hour of it. IDK. Something about watching ridiculously attractive people doing ridiculous things... *waves hand*
(I was skipping to NCIS during the commercial breaks -- heard lots of good things about this show, but I couldn't get into it).
Stargate Atlantis. Still haven't watched the last episode. I'm thinking of re-watching the entire series (or maybe just the good episodes) just for kicks.
Battlestar Galactica. I actually didn't watch any of this today, but I kind of want to get into it since I've heard nothing but praise for this show -- and I've been on a bit of a sci-fi kick lately. The first episode was remarkably unspectacular, but I find that it's easier to get pulled into a show by starting off with a good episode in the middle. Any suggestions where to start, BSG-fans? :D
Other noteworthy things:
1) Frozen grapes are the bestest things ever. THEY'RE LIKE YUMMY FROZEN CANDY. I CAN'T GET OVER IT.
2) Regina Spektor's On the Radio has been stuck in my head all freakin' week. (The reason for it is kind of ridiculous, so I won't get into it ;;;;)

Date: 2009-02-08 07:08 am (UTC)BSG IS AMAZING. Did you start with the miniseries (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlestar_Galactica_(miniseries))? if not, I strongly recommend you watch that before jumping into the regular seasons - things will make a lot more sense that way :)b

I just can't get into this series at all . . . I think because it's a sci-fi series that's hip and aimed at the younger generation and I'm getting too old for that. Wincest also squicks me a lot. . .and I have no idea why because I normally don't mind sibling-cest. I watched the first season of this series before I had to give it up. Apparently it goes through a lot of changes in later seasons which you either love or hate.
Heroes
Awesome first season, and then it eventually begins to decay. . . and decay. . . and decay. Stop at the first season.
Gossip Girl
I 'accidentally' watched a marathon of this show on MuchMusic when I was trying to procrastinate some school work and. . .you know. . . I liked it. Not the plot, or the story, or the trashiness, but the Chuck and Blair interactions. They are both amazing characters, and it's fun to see them try to out compete each other in evilness, while still being complex characters. I don't actively seek this show, though. If it's on and I'm depressed, I'll watch.
I couldn't get into NCIS either. . .

Date: 2009-02-10 06:21 am (UTC)I'm not sure how much I'll end up liking Supernatural since it seems to toe the line between fantasy and horror (and the latter is kind of putting me off) -- but I guess I'll try a few more episodes and see!
Haha, okay, thanks for the tip! I hear the characterization becomes very shaky after the first season..?
I ended up watching, like, five episodes in a row yesterday instead of studying for the midterm I had today. I was just like, "one more episode! just a teeny bit more!"
I watched it on Much Music too! That channel has so much trash -- I don't even know why we have it since we only have basic cable.
I thought you would like NCIS? With their forays into forensics and etc (as far as my limited understanding could tell XD;;;)? For me, it seems that I only like crime shows if they're lighthearted (e.g. Psych).
