1. My nose hurts and my throat hurts and I'm sick of being (sort of) sick. I would've sworn I'd already gotten sick once this year already! (or maybe it was back in 2009 and I'm forgetting things again)

2. Every time I come across the term "sounding" and the term "teabagging" (in a kink context, obvs), I Google the definitions because I keep forgetting what they mean. Maybe it's my brain's defense mechanism kicking into gear. (and no, don't copy&paste me the urbandictionary.com definitions of these words -- I don't want to know anymore. X3)

3. It's 11pm, but I'm really, really hungry, so I think I'm going to go fry up some ~potstickers~.

1. I've been feeling nostalgic for SGA lately -- I think I'll download all of the seasons (with the exception of Season One, which I own, and Season Five, which was a pretty terrible season other than a handful of awesome episodes) and watch random episodes during lunch. I also want to re-listen to some of my favourite SGA podfics. :>:>

2. And speaking of podfics: as I was walking back from the movie theatre with my friend S, she expressed her desire to be a voice actor (note: her dream vocation changes every week ;)) -- she explained how she loved to read aloud when she was younger. I suggested she could record audiobooks (she had no idea they existed ;;;) and as we were discussing this, I kept on thinking about podfics and how recording them is a really awesome hobby. Though S is a close friend, I just couldn't imagine explaining fanfiction to her -- and the thought of her stumbling across my recordings is kind of, well, mortifying. X3

3. This is the cutest video ever. The kitty! Demanding the puppy to lick its ear! Omg the cute at 0:25 aldsfjal;fj♥!

4. Happy Canada Day! █ ♥ █

I had soup-in-a-box for lunch and it was kind of pulpy and swallowing it down was like vomiting in reverse. D: (I'm chewing gum to get rid of the feeling, but it's not working. *scrubs at tongue*)

On an entirely different (and not gross) note, I haven't watched anime in years, but this is a good reason to get started again (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sharona1x2 for the head's up!). Sam'n'Dean in anime form! Eee, how exciting is that? :D I can't wait to find out which seiyuu will be cast as Sam and Dean.

*Met with my supervisor today -- he said that my idea is good and that I'm on the right track and I am so very yay :D about this. \o/

*I going to spend today and tomorrow grading midterms. Hopefully I can get all of them done before I go home for the weekend.

*This weekend, I'm going to:
-read the books on my Kindle that [livejournal.com profile] lilie_charlotte kindly converted for me
-scribble out a plan for the J2 comic I talked to [livejournal.com profile] cantarina1 about
-go jogging
-work a bit on my project and have a study or two planned out
-maybe record something for [livejournal.com profile] amplificathon
-watch TV \o/ (finish up on S2 of Burn Notice, watch a few more episodes of Castle, start Fringe and True Blood -- when did I become such a TV junkie?)
-be a complete and utter hermit until Tuesday :D

*The Slash Fangirl's Guide To Real Life -- this is hilarious. And given that I keep my slashery ways a secret from 98% of people IRL, I can relate to most of the scenarios. (the 2% of people IRL that do know about my fandom life? I met them through LJ first. ;))

*The Year of the Teague Spammage -- Jensen as Jason Teague from Smallville. I've never watched Smallville and don't really have any inclination to do so, but man, Jensen looks great (and by "great" I mean "omnomnom-worthy"). Maybe I should download just the Jason-centric episodes...

command+shift+4! I'll have to look into Skitch, though... )

I just spent forever deleting over a hundred submissions from my old Y!Gallery and DeviantArt accounts. I don't see why they don't simply allow users to delete accounts and contents entirely, the way LJ does. :| It was interesting, looking at my drawings from six, seven years ago. Some of it was atrocious, but some weren't half bad, haha. Also, oh man, so much nostalgia for my Harry Potter days.

--

After watching Iron Man 2 in the theatre yesterday, I watched Iron Man on my computer over dinner. I must say, I prefer the sequel over the original. Pepper was a bit too damsel-in-distress, but Natasha was awesomely cool, and I'm finding myself shipping Tony/Jarvis, just a teeny bit.

--

Next week is going to be spent grading midterms. I hope I don't run into this problem, heh.

Hello, new friends! \o/ Welcome to my humble abode.

Here, everyone, have a meme:

Computer Spying Meme:

1. Comment with a request to see absolutely anything on my computer. My desktop, my documents, my bookmarks, my latest works in progress. Whatever you're curious about. Request it!
2. I will respond post a comment with a screenshot of the very thing you request.

--
Overheard on the subway:

One teenage girl to another: "I thought he was sexy until I found out he was my brother."

--
I don't believe in brunch (why would anyone cram two meals into one? D: And how will I manage to avoid starvation during the long hours between brunch and dinner? I would prefer to skip breakfast and simply wait until my usual lunchtime!), so what I will be doing tomorrow is having an over-sized late-breakfast, followed by a small late-lunch, and then a normal-sized late dinner. :> Between my late-breakfast and late-lunch, I will be watching Iron Man 2. I haven't seen Iron Man, but I do enjoy me some RDJ-on-the-big-screen, so hopefully it'll be fun.

So, here's the thing: what does it mean to "be yourself" or to "stay true to yourself"?

I'm working on a project relating to self-concept and negative mood and I think I'm being supraliminally primed to think about the self all the time now (and I also blame my causeless negative mood from this week on supraliminal priming).

Anyway, back on track. The problem with the whole "be yourself" thing is that the self is made of multiple components. In particular, I'm thinking of the self-discrepancy theory, where there is an ideal-self (which consists of your dreams and aspirations), an ought-self (duties, obligations, what others expect of you), and your actual self. I've currently found myself in a bit of a conundrum: my ideal-self and my ought-self agree on the course of action I should take, while my actual self would prefer (based on past experience and general behavioural tendencies) to take an entirely different path.

Sitcoms usually aren't full of life-lessons, but I thought Jeff Winger's line from yesterday's episode of Community -- "Do you try to evolve or do you try to know what you are?" -- was somewhat profound (and highly relevant as he was attempting to make a choice between being someone he aspires to be or being who he actually is -- haha, well, that's an awkwardly phrased sentence. I'm sure you get the gist of it).

In less thinky-thought news:
-I got a haircut (you know who else needs a haircut? Sam Winchester. I hope for the return of floppy bangs in S6!) and new glasses
-I have no idea where May went (what the heck have I been doing for the past few weeks?)
-I really want to take a vacation (and everyone in my program says I should get away while I can!). My ideal vacation would involve a private island --or even a deserted island would do, as long as there's wi-fi-- with Rodney, Rella, and maybe Shel. The Macbook, iPod, and Kindle, respectively. ;)
-I'm half way through Burn Notice (if any of you watch White Collar, Psych, and Burn Notice, you have to watch these crossover ads -- Fiona hiding her weapons from Peter! Neal flirting with Gus! \o/)
-I have the first two episodes of Fringe and Castle downloaded, just waiting to be watched. Oh, TV♥

1. I currently have this picture as the wallpaper for my iPod Touch. Every time I turn on my iPod, my brain stops and stutters a bit while I ogle. (Ahaha, oh, self *facepalm*). Also, speaking of iPods, I just upgraded to 3.0 last night and now I find out there's a 3.1.3. What. D:

2. Yesterday, for the entire day, the only time I wasn't feeling hungry was when I was eating. I was practically starving, in between meals. It was the weirdest thing ever (and also, extremely uncomfortable).

3. I keep losing track of what day it is. I blame the lack of structured classes (which I don't mind) and all the TV shows that I follow going on hiatus (which I do mind).

4. Mac-savvy flisters: if I have a Time Machine full of files and programs from a Macbook running Leopard and I'm getting a Macbook that runs Snow Leopard, should I transfer only the files and then reinstall each program individually? Would it be a bad idea to transfer third-party applications like Firefox through migration assistant (so that I can retain all my settings and history? Mostly, I just want the history)?

5. How awesomely adorable is this?? Also, new Maru video, eee♥

1. I moved around the furniture in my room today. I anticipate being extremely sore tomorrow. I was going to go grocery shopping in the morning, but I'm guessing my right arm is going to be pretty much useless given the amount of pain I'm already experiencing. ;;;

2. Rodney-update: I've been carting my laptop back-and-forth from the Apple store all week. Finally, got an Apple Care guy on the phone and he said that I can get a replacement. On the plus side, a Macbook that doesn't hiss (finally!) and with better specs than my current one. On the down side, I'll have to ship this current one off and wait for the other to be shipped (no computer for a week or so? D:). The exchange will probably happen around the end of the month. Here's to hoping that Rodney 2.0 will be cooperative and non-hissy.

On a related note, does anyone have an idea how much a padded shipping box would cost?

3. Finally finished watching Season Two of Dark Angel! Verdict: the beginning was good, the middle dragged, and the ending was fantastic. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time while watching the finale. As far as the show goes, I liked the whole premise, but I just couldn't warm up to the characters (Alec doesn't count -- he was just eye-candy!). It's a shame that the show was canceled, just when the plot was getting interesting, but I most likely won't be going back to watch the first season.

4. I watched SPN 5x17 again because I missed a couple of lines during the first go-around (live streaming, so no rewinding). A few thoughts about the ending; cut for the slowpokes on my flist ;) )

5. My desk looks like someone vomited paper all over it. I...should probably get my ass offline and clean up.

Mom [talking about a novel she's reading]: 有个rever-something...? (There's this rever-something...?)
Me: Reverend
Mom: 他们穿不穿衣服啊?(Do they wear clothing?)
Me: ...LOL

Obviously she meant, do they wear special clothing, but still. Hee.

I was watching Season 2 of Dark Angel over lunch today and got a bit fixated over Alec's mouth. I swear, Alec's lips are pinker and plushier than Dean's! I think I'll squeeze in another episode tonight before bed and ogle some more. ;)

I saw this huge raccoon in our backyard the other night! It was making an omnomnomnom face (possibly eating something from a potted plant). I made an omnomnomnom face back at it and it ran away. :<

I've been trying to record something for [livejournal.com profile] amplificathon, but I'm being stumblier and slurrier than usual. D:
