Long rambly comment go!

There's a city named Riverside here in California. XD! But wow, those books sound very fascinating. I might check them out. *post-its them* It's really difficult finding books that capture you and doesn't let go. Because of the characters, how they are. Especially when they're "evil" and yet... they're human, and you can sympathize with them. I think it's really hard to write characters like that, without them being just evil for having an evil person's sake.

My history novel and textbook are probably yelling at me too. XDDD

And actually what you said really does make sense to me because I have such experiences like constantly. I have little scenes from a world (or worlds?) that I like to visit when I'm bored or right before I go to bed. 'Wouldn't it be great to write it out?' I'd think, but it is difficult because there is no connection. And I think because novel length material takes a lot of time and thinking and planning and writing and everything... it'll just take forever to write it out the way you want it to. Perhaps you'll never be able to write it all out. Is what I'm afraid of with the works-in-progress I have right now. They're so long in my mind, that I'm somewhat afraid to tackle them. Sometimes I can write a scene here and there, but I stop because I want it to be really perfect and I know I can't make it that way until I think and am really sure about things.

My writing process almost always starts out as a single scene. Depending on how much it expands/spawns, it could end up as a drabble or a ficlet (finished all nice and neat under 1000 words) or it could... really spawn and just go where I never thought it'd go. I don't have an outline or anything because I don't think that extensively, just write the proceeding scenes as they come to me or as I think them up. I like writing them in chronological order since I'm not sure if the later scene would work out once I get there. But I make notes of the future scenes, so I remember to include them if I can. Sometimes though, when I think of something really amazing (like the wording and dialogue and everything is JUST PERFECT) for the scene, I write it out.

Depending on which story I'm writing or thinking about, I normally have the characters and scenes in my mind. Sometimes when they say something, I say it out loud, wondering if "Would Inui/Kaidoh say it this way?" If I can see/hear them say it in my mind, I would write it down. Same with actions. It's a sort of subconscious, bordering on conscious thing though. Because when I write, I do immerse myself in the story.

Uwah, history. It'll kill me too. XD;; But extended discussion on this is love of cousre. ^___^ *squishes*
